Louis J. Laratta
DVM, Diplomate, ACVO

Dr. Louis J. Laratta received his veterinary degree from Michigan State University. He has specialized in animal eye care since 1982 and became board-certified in comparative ophthalmology in 1985. He has served as Staff Ophthalmologist at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital at Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, and as Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology, University of Tennessee Veterinary Teaching Hospital, Knoxville, Tennessee. Dr. Laratta has presented seminars and educational coursework for veterinarians both locally and nationally. Veterinary Ophthalmology Services was established in 1991 as the first full-time specialty practice in Tennessee, serving Nashville, Knoxville, Chattanooga and the Tri-Cities area.

Dr. Laratta intends to bring eye care advancements to area pet owners by working closely with their primary veterinarian and other animal health professionals.

Dr. Laratta believes in preventative medicine. He feels early detection of diseases and timely treatment are important for an animal's basic eye health and critical to an animal's functional vision. Through proper eye care, an animal's quality of life can be improved and extended.

Amity M. Huskey
DVM, MS

Dr. Amity M. Huskey obtained her degree in veterinary medicine from the University of Tennessee Knoxville in 2003. She completed a rotating internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery and a residency in Comparative Ophthalmology at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She has spent the past four years educating veterinary students and strives to continue educating pet owners and referring veterinarians.

Dr. Huskey believes in the human-animal bond and provides quality care in the treatment and prevention of ophthalmic disorders.

J. Daniel Brogdon
DVM, DACVO

Dr. Dan Brogdon is board certified by the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists. He received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Georgia in 1978, then attended the University of Illinois and obtained a Master's degree in comparative ophthalmology involving the study of corneal healing and epithelial growth factors. While at the University of Illinois, he completed an ophthalmology residency in 1986.

Dr. Brogdon was a Colonel in the United States Military where he served as their only veterinary ophthalmologist. Dr. Brogdon is also a popular speaker, providing continuing education in the field of veterinary ophthalmology, and he has authored numerous articles in various medical journals.

Dr. Brogdon owns a practice in Savannah, Georgia, and has joined our practice in the Chattanooga area seeing clients on a monthly basis.

Kerri
Licensed Veterinary Medical Technician

Kerri was born and raised in Brentwood, Tennessee. She graduated from Columbia State Community College with an AAS in Veterinary Technology and obtained her LVMT status in 1997. Kerri enjoys hanging out with her two Boston Terriers, two Boston Terrier/English bulldog crosses, one English bulldog, two parakeets and numerous fish. Kerri has been working at Veterinary Ophthalmology Services since 1999.

Valerie
Veterinary Assistant

Valerie moved to Tennessee 16 years ago from California. She lives in Christiana with her husband John and daughter. Valerie has 2 cats and 2 fish and enjoys hiking with her mixed breed dogs Pretzel and Leo. Valerie has been working at Veterinary Ophthalmology Services since 1999.

Amanda
Customer Care Representative & Marketing Facilitator

Amanda is native to the Nashville area and has lived here all her life. She graduated from Middle Tennessee State University in 2001 with a degree in Liberal Arts. She now lives in Murfreesboro with her husband Cameron and cat Flash. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time in her art studio and playing tennis. Amanda has been working at Veterinary Ophthalmology Services since 2006.

Molly
Customer Care Representative & Practice Coordinator

Molly has lived all over the country and recently moved to Tennessee from Oregon. She has over 14 years of experience working with animals and managing a veterinary clinic for cats. She has two cats of her own and in her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband Aaron, and two children. Molly has been working at Veterinary Ophthalmology Services since August 28, 2006.

Jennifer
Customer Care Representative

Jennifer grew up in East Tennessee, and graduated from Carson-Newman College in 1999 with a degree in Liberal Arts. She is married and lives with her 2 cats, Boots and Mercury and Guinea Pig, Atari. Jennifer has been working at Veterinary Ophthalmology Services since 2007.

Deana
Veterinary Assistant

Deana recently moved to Tennessee from Northwest Indiana. She has 10 years of experience as a veterinary assistant. Over the years she has worked with a variety of animals including cats, dogs, horses and cattle. Deana resides in Nashville and has two English Bulldogs, Jezebel and Ike. She enjoys riding horses, singing country music and playing her guitar. Deana has been working at Veterinary Ophthalmology Services since 2007.

Laura moved from Memphis to Middle Tennessee 10 years ago. She now resides near the Murfreesboro area with her husband and 3 children. She has been an animal lover for many years and now has 1 german shephard mix and a cat. Laura has a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix and enjoys crocheting, working puzzles and playing video games with her kids.

Kate
Veterinary Assistant

Kate is a resident of Lookout Mountain, GA just outside of Chattanooga, TN. She has 8 years of experience as a veterinary assistant and has worked in positions both in an emergency shelter as well as a day clinic. When she is not working, Kate is actively involved in wildlife rehabilitation and enjoys growing in knowledge and ability artistically and as a seamstress. Kate works primarily at our Chattanooga clinic and has been with Veterinary Ophthalmology Services since 2007.

Shea
Registered Veterinary Technician

Shea has lived in many parts of the country and recently moved from Pennsylvania to Chattanooga, Tennessee. She graduated with an Associates of Animal Science from Central Carolina Community College in 2000 and has worked mostly in emergency medicine. Shea lives with her three cats, Stuie, Munch and Kisses. When not working, she enjoys the outdoors, her bible study, southern gospel music, cooking and spending time with family and friends. Shea works primarily at our Chattanooga clinic.

Märgen
Customer Care Representative

Märgen resides in Chattanooga, Tennessee where she recently graduated from UT Chattanooga with a degree in Psychology. She is primarily interested in publishing and journalism, but has a love for animals and works in our Chattanooga office when scheduling allows. She lives with her cat Cleo and loves hiking, gardening, reading, writing, horseback riding, and long walks on the beach.

Amy has been a Veterinary Technician for 11 years. She graduated from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. She loves working with animals and feels that they can always make you smile! She enjoys spending time with her cats, "Sweetest" and "Puddy Tat", learning how to sketch and paint with watercolors, and spending time with family and friends.
